Communications and Development Internship

The Communications and Development internship is a combined role that will provide you with highly employable and in-demand skills related to writing, editing, and graphic designing; fundraising and development; and database, social media, and website management. This internship will give you firsthand experience with nonprofit fundraising, operations, and communications. Interns with a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week will receive a stipend of $1,000 per month. Interns with a schedule less than 40 hours will have their stipend prorated. 

Duties
  • Contribute to print and online communications, including promotional materials and reports
  • Design and format reports
  • Contribute to release of reports (promotion, distribution, and events)
  • Support organization’s website, social media strategy, and online platforms
  • Assist with communications logistics
  • Research grants, foundations, funding opportunities, and fundraising strategies
  • Assist with coordinating logistics for board meetings
  • Maintain and update CIP’s donor database
  • Assist with fundraising campaigns and communications outreach through direct mail and email
  • Send acknowledgment letters and tax receipts to donors
  • Help plan fundraising events
  • Other research, writing, and administrative duties as needed
Qualifications
  • Enthusiasm for CIP’s mission of promoting peace, justice, and sustainability
  • Familiarity with the nonprofit world, or a desire to learn about it
  • Strong editing skills and eye for detail
  • An interest in gaining communication, development, fundraising, event planning, and database experience
  • Initiative, a positive attitude, commitment to deadlines, and strong attention to detail
  • Prior experience with Adobe Cloud (especially InDesign), professional social media, Google Drive/Docs/Sheets, Excel, mail merge, databases, website management, copyediting, and/or fundraising is a big plus

Start dates, end dates, and weekly schedules are flexible. We are now accepting applications for the spring 2025 cycle, which will begin in late February 2025. 

Interns will be provided with a stipend during their internship. The stipend will be given to help defray expenses incurred in connection with volunteering at CIP. Each intern is responsible for reporting and payment of all taxes due or owing to any taxing authority pursuant to his or her internship. Interns will be provided with a tax form for reporting purposes. Please, no phone calls.
